Doosan Babcock Energy League Trophy - Season 2010-2011

Mark holds his nerve to win league

The 2010-2011 Thurso Squash Club League trophy sponsored by Doosan Babcock concluded with one of the tightest point tallies since the 2001-2002 season.

This competition runs for a twelve month period in a group of five league ladder system, where players amass points in a round robin fashion and either; move up, down or remain in the same league - depending on points gained.

In the final month, the scene was set and the two top competitors throughout the period with most points, Mark Mackay and Alistair Miller had to play against each other in the final match.

The pressure was slightly on Alistair as he required a good win to gain enough points to lift the trophy.

Mark never allowed this to happen, went on to win the tie and accumulate enough points to secure the title with a meagre 3 points to spare over Alistair.

This was a good trophy to win for Mark as about eleven months previous he had just returned to competitive squash after a nasty knee injury left him out of action for a long period.

Davie Rosie continued his consistent league performances by finishing in a very respectable third position.

Thank you to Doosan Babcock for their continued sponsorship and congratulations to everyone who took part but the club is always looking for new members.

LtoR:- Mark Mackay (winner), Alan Miller (sponsor, Doosan Babcock), Alistair Miller (runner-up) & Davie Rosie (third place).
