'Prince' and the Pauper - ebay Battle Royale... - Season 2006-2007

Who would've believed there could've been a bidding war on ebay between two squash players coming from the same club for a Prince squash racket.....

Well, it happened...

The story begins during an after match 'rub down' between the two men, ebay usernames - 'sparDUFC' and 'greigM8' on a Monday night after work. Yes, I know, the initial story seems to be leading onto a very 'Adam & Steve' fashion tail but the pair soon got down to talking about the intricacies of squash and current racket preferences.

Steve, sorry - 'sparDUFC' mentioned that he had been having trouble with his racket and was losing his consistency around the court, not coming to think that it could've been the dozen or so Baileys and ice consumed over the weekend - 'Adam & Steve' came to mind again with this drink selection. Anyway, I digress - he then uttered the immortal phrase to 'greigM8', "I must rush home because I've got a bid on a Prince racket that I could do with and it's finishing in an hour.....".

What happened next will go down in history.....

Unbeknown to 'sparDUFC' - 'greigM8' was also looking for a fresh racket and just like the cartoon character, 'Road-Runner' he jumped in the car, sounded the horn 'BEEP-BEEP' to 'sparDUFC', got home, turned on his PC to ebay and found the much sought after Prince racket with 5 minutes to spare. Let battle commence 'greigM8' muttered to himself with a distinct and rye smile of glee on his coupon.

The excitement of the bidding was tense and each bid went back and forth between the two battlers. With seconds to go before the shut down a final bid by 'greigM8' secured the racket and left 'sparDUFC' bewildered and disappointed on losing what could've been a life changing piece of equipment.

Months later 'sparDUFC' found out who 'greigM8' was much to his amazement, is still battling with his consistency, attends a workshop for his disappointment of losing the 'miracle racket' and no longer holds an account on ebay. Sad but true..........

The moral of the story is - 'just don't speak to 'greigM8'' - I would say.
