Summer League 2 - 18 April 09
Poker player gathers 45 points
Over 70 players contested the second round of the Newsbeat Summer League at Thurso Golf Club on Saturday on arguably the best golfing day of the season so far.
Apparently poker players are not supposed to show any emotion but enthusiast Angus Cameron could not conceal his delight after going round in three over par for a massive total of 45 Stableford points. The 12 handicap player covered the front nine in level par and had three birdies in his round in winning by four points from young Greg McEwan.
McEwan's was a very consistent performance with 20 points for the front nine and 21 more on the way in.
Clark Grant had a very good front nine of 22 points on his way to third place with 40 points, one ahead of Alastair Bell and Gordon Morris.
Ian Macphee was fifth on his own with 38 points and Alan Swanson, who had the lowest gross of the day with 71,and Dave Lyall also beating the 36 point mark by one.
