George holds on, to win in strong winds

Reay Golf Club's senior players lined up last Thursday to compete for the Evan Sutherland Retired Members Cup.

Despite a strong wind, which slowly increased throughout the morning, the scoring was well above par for this stableford competition.

The winner George McDonald with two birdies and three four point holes on his card accumulated a forty one points total to put the cup out of reach of any of the other seventeen competitors, that despite a tremendous efforts from Ian Ritchie who, only one over par at the fifteenth, managed to return thirty nine points for the eighteen holes. Shot of the day was the winner's birdie two at the long and difficult two hundred and thirty eight yard par three first.

Reay Captain, Ian Ross presented the trophy to the winner together with the Chris Hobson Trophy to the under 65 age group winner, Vice Captain of the club Bob Earnshaw
