Club Championship Rnd 4 & June Medal - 09 June 07
Graeme wins his first Medal in 30 years

The June Medal was played in testing conditions with poor visibility due to a mist rolling in from the sea and blistering sunshine. The CSS was 69; the course was looking immaculate with the greens putting nicely as 22 birdies fell in the can. The first was the hardest par and this time the short 15th was the easiest par being plundered for five birdies.

In Division Two George Prince chipped in from off the green at the 18th for a superb birdie two and Danny O'Hagan made a fantastic two at the 17th leaving himself a short putt to guarantee a birdie. George MacDonald 90-20-70 took third place as there was a tie on nett 66 for the medal. The fast improving Hugh Tunn who one feels won't be in Division two too much longer shot 84-18-66 to be second after losing out on the countback. The winner of the medal was Stuart Greig 79-13-66 which was also the lowest gross.

All the action was in Division One as many tried to improve their scores for the Club Championship qualifiers. Evan Sutherland made birdie at the 6th and Steven Prince was in electric form with no less than three birdies at the 6th, 11th and the 13th. John Nicolson had a pair of two's as putts fell in at the 7th and the 15th. John O'Brien also had a pair of birdies at the 3rd and the 15th. Neil McDonald made a two at the 15th and Bob Earnshaw rattled in a pair of birdies at the 10th and the 16th. Fred Groves also got in on the birdie party with a pair at the 11th and the 15th to smarten up his card.

Fred Groves 77-8-69 made par along with Jock Eunson 79-10-69. Ian Ritchie was one under on 77-9-68 breaking par for fourth place. Grant Maxwell 74-7-67 had a very tidy round and is in great form settling for third place on countback. Second went to Murdo MacDonald 79-12-67 having a very steady round and producing neat figures. After trying to win a medal at Reay for over 30 years Graeme Dunnett at last gets his first medal and done in real style. The lowest gross score of 68 to win very comfortably with 68-3-65 and a great haul of five birdies. Birdies at the 4th and the 6th helped Graeme to go out in 35 and on the back nine birdies came at the 13th a two at the 15th and the icing on the cake the grandstand two at the 18th for the gallery for a total of 33 and the long awaited medal.
