Hole-in-One - 2006
Danny O'Hagan left it late in the year to claim the third 'Hole in One' at Reay Golf Club in 2006. Earlier in the year Cammie Ross aced the short 5th hole and youngster Hugh Tunn aced the 18th. A 'Hole in One' is every golfers lifelong ambition and this was Danny's first ace which came at the Par 3 - 176 yard - 9th hole, and indeed from the records we have is the first Ace at the 9th hole recorded in competition. (Are there any other claims?) Danny was partnered by Alex Mackay and Peter McCartney who watched him hit a gentle six iron which never left the line to the pin, it looked good in the air. The ball dropped short and ran on to the green, however, it was not till they reached the green and checked the hole that the ace was confirmed. Danny was fearful his ball may have run through and out the back of the green but was delighted to discover the ball in the bottom of the cup and able to sign for a 1 on his card. Earlier Danny had birdied the second but the round was nothing to be proud of until the 9th and then he was past caring about the score anyway. A great way to finish the year at Reay and ready for the second half of the winter programme before the new season starting on the 1st of April which means summer is only three months away.
