Club Championship & Monthly Medals - Season 2006-2007
July Medal -
22 July 06
The July Medal produced a very good field up against competition from the Open at Hoylake. The CSS stood at 69, there were 17 birdies and the 8th stood out as the hardest hole with the 15th the easiest par. The 17th one of the hardest holes actually gave up 4 birdies. Nobody in Division two made a birdie and the lowest gross of 84 went to Steve Lucas. Willie Williamson becoming a regular winner of the sweep money took third place with 92-20-72. Steve Lucas was second on 84-14-70 and on his own winning the Division two Medal was Tom Sinclair with a very good 85-18-67. The story was very different in Division one with Bruce Mackay defending the medal. Bill Budding sadly shredded his card but he did get a consolation birdie at the 14th. Cammie Ross made birdie at the 2nd, Colin Stewart at the 13th, and Sandy Chisholm broke par at the 6th. , The 17th was birdied by Donald Mowat, Neil McDonald and Bob Earnshaw. Neil McDonald smartened up his card with a further birdie two at the 15th. Alf Mackay made birdie at the 10th and David Mackay made a nice two at the 5th. There were 4 players on nett 69 for second place and getting second on the countback was Gavin Gunn with 79-10-69 and a birdie two at the 15th. Third went to the veteran Ian Ritchie on 78-9-69. Losing out were Alistair Gunn with 74-5-69 and birdies at the 5th and 17th, and Raymond Taylor on 72-3-69 who also had a pair of birdies at the 9th and the 12th. The lowest gross went to Gavin Sutherland who is in fine form shooting a super 69 and he had two birdies as putts fell in at the 2nd and the 7th. With figures of 69-5-64 Gavin Sutherland was an easy winner of the July Medal and sends out a message for the race to be Club Champion.
