Winter Tournaments - Season 2005-2006 GoTo:- -Halfway Report-|-4BBB-|-Alliance-|-Eclectic-|-Medals-|-Stableford-|-Sweep-|-Spilt Stone- Winter Half Term Report -
01 January 06
2005 is now put to bed and 2006 beckons. At the half way stage of the winter season we review those in contention for the trophies. Monthly Medals have already been secured by Cammie Ross, Andy Whitelaw and Gavin Gunn. In the race for the Donald Carmichael Trophy for the best four scores from the six Medals the front runner is Andy Whitelaw on 135. Snapping at his heels are Cammie Ross and Bruce Mackay on 141 with the dark horse Ian Ross lurking at 142. With 3 rounds to go this is still anybody's trophy however once he has his nose in front Andy Whitelaw is a difficult man to dislodge. The Jean Mackay Trophy is for the best nett eclectic score over 6 rounds and this throws up no surprise in view of recent scores with Bruce Mackay leading the way on nett 58. Nearest challengers are David Mackay with 3 birdies in his 61 and Donald Mowat and Steve Efemey also with three birdies each in their 64's. Again there are a lot of players in contention and the front runners will now find it tough to improve and the chasing pack will have more opportunity to improve their scores. The Winter League Stableford the third of the winter trophies at stake is within the grasp of Terry Grace who leads with 73 points. Hot on his heels are Lee Parnell and Bruce Mackay both on 72 points and Mike Browne sneaking into contention on 70 points. Poised to make inroads are Peter McCartney on 68 and John Disbury on 67. It's only half way and wide open but Terry Grace is the leader of the pack with 6 rounds to go. The Final trophy is the 4BBB Medal and this has the Pairing of Bruce Mackay and John O'Brien with a firm grasp on the silverware on 118 after two superb rounds of 59 which will see them hard to beat. It is worth noting Bruce Mackay is in contention for every trophy. Chasing hard is the duo of Chris Hobson and Mike Browne on 123. Three Pairings are on 127 and won't be giving up with 6 rounds to make up ground and they are Alistair and Gavin Gunn, Lee Parnell and Steve Efemey and also David Mackay and Donald Mowat. With 6 rounds to go there could be a lot of interesting moves in this chase for the new trophy. Who will the first winners be?
