Summer Cup - Final Result - 18 August 05
Evan & Bill, both this years' Mr Consistent

The Summer Cup is played in conjunction with the Tuesday Medals and run over sixteen weeks with the best eight scores counting towards the trophy. It is always exciting plotting the results through the season as everybody tries to get scores in. Bruce Mackay was the early front runner throwing in some really low scores. In an event where consistency matters it usually favours the Division one golfers who can get to par more often that not.

Par for this event is 8 times 69 which is 552 and seven broke that figure this year which is very good golf. Nobody in Division two broke or averaged par with the best eight round total of 559 going to Bill McIntosh who did have three 67's. One shot behind was Danny O'Hagan on 560 who had a 65 and a 66 in his tally. Third was Andy Whitelaw on 574 with a best round of 68.

Peter McCartney new to Reay this year and making great strides into his handicap had 548 with an impressive 63 and two 64's. Also on 548 and under par is the youngster Gavin Sutherland with a best 64 late in the season. Bruce Mackay and Andy Mackay shared the honours on 544 with Andy having a best round of 64 and Bruce two 65's.

In third over the sixteen weeks with a season's best lowest score of 62 was Donald Mowat with a great effort and a return of 542. The quiet man from the west John O'Brien was runner up with 542 two shots ahead of Mojo. John had only one week with a 70 and every other score was under par which is good shooting. With a lowest round of 65 and highest round of 69 Evan Sutherland took the Summer Cup with a great total of 538 to show all the hours of practice and playing every week gives the best chance of success in this much coveted event. Congratulations to Evan Sutherland who is the 2005 Summer Cup Champion.
