Summer Cup Round 4 - 24 May 05
Paterson warms to the Task

Round 4 of the Reay Summer Cup saw some warm weather for a change with a hint of summer and some good scoring. In Division 1 Colin Paterson came out of his usual winter hibernation and produced a nice steady par round of 69 (5) which included two birdies at 2nd and 15th and the lowest gross score of the day a very good 74 to get the top spot after a count back. It must be great to get back into the groove so smoothly. Four players tied on 69 and the others were Gavin Sutherland 69 (6) who picked up second on count back, Steve Efemy 69 (12) third and Evan Sutherland 69 (9) in fourth spot.

Division 2 was a whole different ball game. Bill McIntosh set the early pace with a 66 (18) and had to be confident of picking up some sweep money but not so. Peter McCartney on a hot streak of form claimed the best score of 64 (18) with a nice birdie two thrown in at the 15th for a steady round and an excellent performance to take the lead on count back. Andy Mackay produced the lowest gross of 79 in Division two also with a sweet birdie 2 at the 7th which is always a tough hole. Andy's 64 (15) let him down on the count back but nice to see an overdue return to form. Slotting into third place was Les Patrick with a creditable 65 (14) and a good birdie at the 11th to equal the lowest gross in the Division. Alan Paul also matched the 79 lowest gross to produce a 66 (13) birdying the long 4th the Sahara but losing out to Bill McIntosh on count back. Ian Thomson also came home under par with a 68 (20) and Club President Alf Mackay strolled in with a 69 (13). This seems to be Alf's regular score.
