Halkirk FC - Reports, Results & Photos - Season 2009-2010

Pentland United 1 - 3 Halkirk

Kitten
A friendly match compromising of three 30 minute periods rather than two 45 minute halves (sometimes easier to play this way as changes to personnel and formation can be made when the game is stopped, rather than when the game is in full flow) was arranged against Pentland United to keep the lads in tip-top condition, for the weekend Highland Amateur Cup replay versus Sleat & Strath, Skye in Halkirk.
We got off to a good start, playing some good stuff down hill in the first period and going 2 nil up after approximately 25 minutes with goals from Kitten. But, not long after scoring his second, a 25-yarder into the bottom corner, he suffered a blow to his knee that caused worry to the player, on looking manager and crowd.
Duck approached the youngster to assess his condition and he replied that he thought he was knackered, because on impact his kneecap had moved to the side but then went back into place!!! His mother took precautionary measures and aided the soldier to hospital - where, he was put in a brace for a couple of days and would be checked for availability on Friday.
The second period wasn't so good going up hill, as a few changes were made.
Rusty, Sean & Adamson came on and none of them did anything to influence the managers tough choices for Saturady and, we struggled to get out of our half, at times - as our ball retention was poor.
It was no real surprise when they scored after about 20 minutes, as we stopped putting the work-rate and effort in, which was disappointing to see.
Going back down the slope, we got our finger out for the last period and Matthew scored after some good work by Charlie.
The home side were by no means at full strength but it's always good to get a win in Dunnet.
Overall, a decent workout, sets us up nicely and gave the manager an idea of formations and players to set in place for Saturday.
Go Wildcat's!!!
