CBA Sponsored Walk - Season 2005-2006

Tour of the forest for the CBA - 29/10/05

Favourable weather conditions proved to be an added incentive for the group of around 20 walkers raising extra funds for the CBA club.

Our Local/County/Highland Ranger and keen Badminton player, Marina Swanson arranged a suitable route in Rumster Forest and from what I've heard, everyone enjoyed the trek, views and horticultural sites.

I was lucky enough to be joined on the trek by a young, knowledgeable kiddie that, from my last experience of his company, went from being fairly mute to becoming a fountain of knowledge that he wished to share. Subjects ranged from 70's music, a wide assortment of sports, comedy, films, electronics, gadgets, his sisters misgivings, the list goes on.... If this sponsored event had been named a 'Sponsored Walk & Talk' and a guess had to be given for the most amount of words spoken, I'm sure the two of us would've accumulated the most and blown away the ladies.

Well done to everyone who took part and all the best.

Rant: One final point.....

These events have been organised to raise funds for the CBA Senior & Juniors' benefit and the club needs the extra financial boost to complete a season.

The junior coaching staff and organisers have an excellent batch of youngsters emerging and to attend functions costs money. All coaching is voluntary but it doesn't take much for some of the more senior players to attend and complete a sponsor form, once a year......

Seniors also benefit from this 'money pot' with trips to Shetland & Orkney, shuttles for tournaments, hall fees, etc and everything is set on a plate (regarding, trip organisation) all you have to do is play.

More than enough notice is given for people to arrange around these events. So, sort it out and start giving for what your getting!
