CBA Junior Invitation Tournie - 06&07/03/04

Caithness Badminton Association - Junior Section held their 2nd Caithness Highland Restricted on Saturday 6th & Sunday 7th March in Wick and Thurso Games Halls. Ali MacKay presented the trophies in Wick and Andy Nicolson, President of the CBA, presented the trophies in the Pentland Hotel, Thurso.

Wick Games Hall was host to the U14's from Caithness/Shetland/Orkney/Forres/Culloden/Beauly/Ardgay. A total of 38 boys and 18 girls entered and took part in 138 games of excellent badminton.
Despite not having the facilities that the other competitors have on their door steps - ie, a Community Sports Centre, our local boys and girls competed excellently.
The match of the day was between Bryan McKiddie, Wick and Shane Jamieson, Shetland - in the semi-finals of the boys' singles. It was a tough match with lots of long and tight rallies, and both boys did not give in until eventually, Bryan - with his lovely drop, well placed shots and speed around the court went on to win 21/18.
The parents of Paul Carey from Beauly, who took 3 titles in the U14 section, couldn't believe we didn't have a sports centre in either Wick or Thurso - and that we only get the Games Halls from September to March.
