Home International Schools Cross Country Championships, Bangor, Wales - 28/03/2009

Following on from her recent success at the Scottish Schools Cross Country Championships, Emma Dunnett from Thurso High School made the long journey to Bangor, Wales to represent Scotland.

In her first international selection, Emma came up against the best in the four home nations, England, Ireland, Wales and Scotland and did herself and Thurso High proud.

In an undulating course around a country estate, the 4 kilometre course saw the best in Britain battle against strong winds and in very cold conditions. This did not deter from Emma's performance and in finishing 13th, she once again showed her potential for the future.

She also continued a session's tussle with Rachel Dunn, team mate from Edinburgh AC who on this occasion finished just 3 seconds ahead of Emma. The girls now have 2 victories each at national level and will be a formidable force next cross country season when they are second year Under 15 Girls.

The 8 girls in the Scottish Schools team were all competing in their first Schools International and despite their inexperience, they packed well as a team and took the bronze team medals home to Scotland.

Emma now has a well earned rest from training before preparing to represent Scotland again in the London Mini Marathon on the 25th April.
