Caithness Club Cross Country Championships - 28/03/2009

Caithness Amateur Athletic Club recently held it's annual Cross Country Championships in Thurso.
This event is not known for it's fair weather and this year was no exception with bitterly cold winds and snow at one point.
Despite this, 40 hardy athletes turned out to test with fitness on the hilly Moors course.
There were a number of notable races where despite the distances that the athletes had already covered they still managed to challenge themselves to sprint finishes.
The Moors section of the course was good going underfoot but the test of strength came on the Naver field which was very wet and therefore hard going.
The race distances varied from 600m for the Under 9's to 10 kilometres for the Senior Men.
Thanks go to all of the marshalls, first aiders and timekeepers/recorders who encouraged the athletes on the day.
Especially. thanks to Vivian Mackay who took on the role of Race Convenor for the event.
These races mark the end of the cross country season and a prize giving and disco will be held in the Thurso Club, Janet Street at 7pm on Friday 17th April.
The prize winners for the Club Championships and various other cross country prizes will be awarded and then the CAAC athletes and coaches will turn their attention to the track and field season.

The race results for the Championships are as follows:-
